Spelling words for every grade

Grade levels are a guide, not a ceiling. A confident reader can stretch up a level for a challenge, while a student building confidence benefits from consolidating the level below. The goal is the sweet spot: about 80% of words feel familiar and 20% push you to learn something new.

For parents

Short, daily sessions beat long weekend cramming. Ten focused minutes a day, five days a week, will move a child further than an hour once a week. Use the example sentences to talk about meaning, not just spelling.

For teachers
